Installation instructions suitable for the 500 and 1000 series

The Forgen can be supplied with 3 standard mount system options:

 

Forgen Installation Instructions - Option 1 | Bracket & Wedge

Option 1 – Bracket and Wedge (standard system)

  1. Remove the bracket and wedge from box.
  2. Slacken the “Security “ hex screw in the mounting bracket with key provided and slide out the tapered mounting plate.
  3. Secure the mounting plate to the surface or frame; this surface must be rigid or well supported, as there can be strong sideways forces exerted during gale conditions.
  4. Slide the mounting bracket over the wedge and secure by tightening the hex grub screw.
  5. Offer the spindle of the Forgen® vawt through the hole in the bracket and tighten using the two nuts provided.

 

Forgen Installation Instructions - Option 2 | Pole Mounting

Option 2 – Pole Mounting

The fitting is designed to clamp directly onto a scaffold size pole of 50mm or 2” pole. Secure the fitting by tightening the 3 stainless steel clamping screws.

Note: Ensure the mount is securely fitted to the spindle of the Forgen®.

 

Option 3 – Side Mounting

Option 3 is for our ‘extreme conditions’ (LT) option. This has a side mounting with a bearing assembly being fitted into the head of the rotor. The machine is attached to the side of a building, mast or other fixture with suitable bolts (not supplied by Forgen®.)

 

General

  1. Run the twin core cable through to a position convenient for a switch box, connecting Block (if either are to be fitted) or direct to the battery.
  2. Output from the “Forgen®” is DC and suitably self-regulating for 6, 12 or 24 with no manual adjustment needed.
  3. The Brown wire from the “Forgen®” is Positive (+) and must be connected to the positive Terminal of the battery via the fuse and switch box, if fitted.
  4. The Blue wire is Negative (-) and must be connected to the negative terminal of the battery.

 

Note

To avoid risk of damage to the generator, it is recommended that a 3 amp in line fuse is fitted into the positive line of the “Forgen®” 500 and a 5 amp in line fuse for the “Forgen®” 1000. This will prevent any circuit damage, In the event of the battery being incorrectly connected.

 

Warranty

The “Forgen®” product carries a two-year Manufacturers mechanical parts warranty from the date of purchase.

  • The warranty will be invalidated if the machine is dismantled other than by Goodridge authorised service engineers or dealers
  • The Machine is incorrectly mounted
  • The machine is incorrectly wired
  • The machine is used for purposes other than that for which it was designed
