The Forgen® wind driven generator embodies long established, high efficiency generator principles, combined with turbine airflow expertise. Low inertia and carefully balanced all aluminium rotor assembly enables the maximum advantage to be taken of average weather conditions.
However, the Forgen® turbines come into their own when faced with extreme environments such as those found in the polar regions of the Arctic and Antarctic as well as offshore marine applications. The Forgen® brand is the wind technology of choice for the most demanding environments.
The two machines in the range are the Forgen® 500 and the Forgen® 1000. Both machines utilise permanent magnet generator design, acknowledged as the most efficient design and when mounted vertically takes advantage of wind from any direction. All electrical components are encapsulated within the machine or its constituent parts. Vertical axis machines are widely regarded as quieter and vibration free when compared to more traditional horizontal propeller type designs. Safety is also a major factor in the selection of the Forgen® 500 and the Forgen 1000® refer to the video below showing the limited effect of accidental contact with the vertical axis blades during operation. It is well known that batteries have a much longer working life when maintained in a fully charged condition and even a small charge current will help prevent battery deterioration. The Forgen® machines provide a trickle charge to a single battery or battery bank to maintain the charge and hence prolong the battery life. The generator from the Forgen® is self adjusting for 12 or 24 volt batteries.
